Benedict Cumberbatch meets Tom Holland
Is there the next crossover hammer from Walt Disney and Sony Pictures? As reported by the US industry website “Variety”, Benedict Cumberbatch (44) will appear as Doctor Strange in the new “Spider-Man” film with Tom Holland (24). This would not be unusual, after all, other Marvel heroes have already been able to celebrate this honor.
In 2017 it was Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr., 55), who played a role in “Spider-Man: Homecoming”, in 2019 Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson, 71) appeared in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”. Now Stephen Strange is said to be the third in the league. The two film heroes made their first acquaintance back in 2018 when they fought together against evil in “Avengers: Infinity War”.
Two films, two locations, a time problem?
According to “Variety”, the shooting of the third “Spider-Man” film is to begin in November this year in Atlanta, Georgia. The cinema release is planned for December 17, 2021. Can Cumberbatch live up to this schedule? Because the shooting of the “Doctor Strange” sequel “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (OT: “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”) should start according to the report in November – but in London. The film is scheduled to premiere in the cinema in March 2022.
